Hi Honey,
I’ve been having a chat with a few friends of mine in the EU IT sector about
developing a proposal to meet the following objective.
http://www.cordis.lu/ist/so/env-risk-management/home.html
One of the ideas that I had was to use the technology that I developed when
I was working in TSSG (WIT) to manage arrays of sensor networks in
controlling a national networks of water pollution sensors. UCC have done a
lot of work in sensor network management through the National
Microelectronics Research Centre. This coincides neatly with their law
faculty’s promotion of environmental issues. As has DCU via their National
Centre for Sensor Research. I have friends in all these places.
Part of the operation of this network would involve testing for a range of
pollutants, transmission of pollutant information to a central coordinating
point in real-time, real-time statistical trend analysis to determine
environmental risk factors at any particular time and environmental crisis
management. The creation of a greater european network with the involvedment
of european and worldwide NGOs operating in the area of environmental would
enable european wide environmental issues to be analysed on a per country
basis and could help direct european environmental policy through the
provision of real-time accurate data about air pollution, water pollution
etc. THe IST programme is great for funding such a project as:
– they have millions to spend on this particular programme
– the love Integrated Projects which are large-scale work programmes with
commercial, non-profit and academic interests throughout europe.
– we’re hitting all the current Information and Communication Technology
(ICT) buzzwords including “sensor-nets”, “enviromental risk management”,
“ambient intelligence”, “mesh networks”… Wow, be still my beating
technophiliac heart honey!
I suggest you have a serious think about this as I’d love to write a
proposal in this area, my track record in obtaining funding is damn good &
it would pay for the following:
– trips to brussels and other major european cities to disseminate
information at conferences on IT and the enviroment
– consultancy fees for all concerned for the next 3 years
– the development and deployment of pollution measurement equipments
throughout ireland.
– rigorous scientific analysis of pollution issues through collaboration
With leading universities in the area.
– legal assistance from major national and european firms
– the creation of signifigant intellectual property associated with
innovative technologies for risk management.
– & much more besides !!!!
Have I told you lately that I love u? Well I do,
…shane
