comments from dad on the VAT issue

Ask Aidan McAvinue about the VAT situation (invoice/cash/receipt)
Can I advise others of the VAT figure and get them to pay you.
Also ask him about having a repayment on the first vat return.

Post dated cheque for the VAT amount. So in the event the cheque doesn’t
clear we’ll just be disputing the cheque rather than the project/software.
Ask for early clearance on the 1st cheque.

technical support next week.

Hi Brian,
We’re willing to provide on-site technical support, probably on Wednesday or
Thursday of next week. However. Having discussed this with my team we have
the following requirements & concerns:

1) We’d require a 500 euro call out charge for 2 of our team to visit your
site in dublin for 1 day. This is reasonable as we’ll have to take time off
current projects to provide this support.
2) If the server can be connected to the internet we can provide some intial
technical support by logging into this server using secure shell. Indeed,
on-site support may not be necessary at all. Our charge per hour for this
support is 60 euro, with a minimum charge of 60 euro.
3) We’ll require payment for the entire project at the end of our onsite
technical support visit next week. We understand that you’re busy but we
handed over the software in good faith over 3 weeks ago and we really need
to be paid as soon as possible, as you acknowledged during our phone
conversation.
4) We believe the linux box that we’ve provided is straightforward to
administer. A linux server with a secure apache installation was part of
your original project description so it’s not a new component. The choice of
SuSE linux over Redhat has not impacted on the ease with which the server
can be administered. A useful administration page is available @

our webcam s/w

Hi John,
Here’s the details of our IP camera surveillance software.
Let me know if you need any additional information.

——————————————————————
Gaisan Technologies Ltd. will have the following available by start of
march.

Cam-Watch
============
A digital surveillance system based around the Axis IP-based security
cameras. Our system handles camera and user provisioning through a web-based
interface. System administrators can control access to camera feeds with a
high degree of granularity including date, time, user, camera and camera
location. Additionally our software is being extended to support control of
Axis pan, tilt & zoom (PTZ) cameras, making it ideal for commercial
surveillance applications. The software will handle stream archival and
Gaisan will offer a competitive remote backup and restore facility for
interested customers.

Camera video feeds are currently available in all browsers using a cross
platform Java Applet and native MotionJpeg support in Mozilla Firefox. This
applet supports plugins for image manipulation include zoom in/out.
License fees are on a per user/camera basis with 10 users/ 10 cameras
available for around 5000 euro which includes basic support but not
installation and on-site maintenance. (in the event it’s required) Should
you require we’ll build you a bespoke solution with additional costs based
on feature set. We’ll alson provide a “branding” package where we include
specified design and logos throughout our products. We have a dedicated
graphics design team available to help you create an attractive design if
you require.

Gaisan technologies will be introducing a specialised product for car park
monitoring incorporating License Plate Recognition (LPR). More details on
this product will be available soon.

technical suport for secure networks

Hi guys,
Here’s the email that I’m thinking of sending Brian Carroll..
Let me know what you think…

—————————————————————————
Hi Brian,
I’ve discussed our telephone conversation with my team. Both Brian and Jerry
will make themselves available to come up to dublin and explain to you how
the box should be administered. I have no problem with this. However, we
have the following comments relating to this activity and the project in
general.

1) We believe that the configuration of linux on your box is straightforward
to administer. A linux box was part of your system description and therefore
it is not a new element that we have introduced. The administration of SuSE
linux is widely regarded as comparable or better than Redhat. A useful
resources is:
s/guides/9_2/suselinux-adminguide_en/cover.html ) We believe we have
simplified your software configuration and removed the need for a windows
box. This was all pre-agreed via email. Therefore we cannot agree to a
reduced payment for the project regardless of whether you still feel the box
is difficult to administer after we’ve conducted our site visit.

2) We understand that you’re busy. However, we provided this software in
good faith over 3 weeks ago. I’ve personally answered calls from you in the
meantime, at irregular hours, relating to the configuration of this
software. This was done free of charge. We have yet to be paid for this
project and will require payment for all work carried out when we’re fully
satisfied that we’ve explained how to configure and administer our software
and the box. This should happen at the end of our technical support call out
next week.

3) Getting several members of the team to travel to Dublin cannot be done
free of charge. We have a call-out charge of 250 euro covering one hour of
support provided by 2 people. There’s an additional call out charge of 60
euro each for every additional hour that we work. For two people we’ll
reduce this to 80 euro between them. Therefore a 3 hour call out would cost
410 euro. I don’t believe this is unreasonable as we’re quite busy and
simply can’t afford to donate any more time to this project without payment.

Sincerest regards,

shane
